Martin Schröder
Martin Schröder, Gräfel ng (D) °1977, grew up in Dortmund (D) where he started playing the trumpet at 9 years of age. During his school years he played with the Überregionale Jugendorchester touring England, Ireland, Scandinavia and Poland. Between 2000 and 2005 Martin studied trumpet and music teaching at the Hochschule für Musik at Detmold (D) with Dominik Stegemann and Fredrick Dweir. He spent a further two years studying in Cologne (D) with professor Nancy Gildner.
Together with Cheb Hicham & le Groove Orchestre, a worldmusic orchestra, Martin performed concerts for the Westdeutsche Rundfunk and they played the pre-concert programme for the Algerian superstar Cheb Mami. Since 2004 he is part of the brassquintet Rhurblech where he is not only trumpeter but arranger too. As well as with Rhurblech he also performs regularly with organist Hans-André Stamm in many churches throughout Europe. Martin is also a sought after soloist with his piccolo trumpet for concerts, cantates and oratorios in the Ruhrgebiet. In 2010 he played in a performance of Handel’s Music of the Royal Fireworks with the Seoul Classical Players in South Korea and later in 2012 took part in shows with Korean popstars Insooni en Kim Bum Soo.
As a teacher Martin is employed in the music schools in Soest, Iserlohn and Bochum (D). In the summer months he can also be found giving masterclasses in South Korea.
